Things to do locally
Semerwater – Yorkshire’s largest natural lake is a great spot for fishing and exploring by boat or kayak. Or just for paddling and feeding the ducks. You can purchase a fishing license from a nearby farm, we can arrange this for you.
Raydale Preserves – local jam factory and cream teas spot.
Walking/cycling/running – lots of trails and bridleways in the area, some leading right by the barn, others zig-zagging through and over nearby hills and Dales. We can help you plan your routes etc.
Waterfalls – there are some famous, and not so famous, waterfalls nearby – we can guide you to these.
The villages of Bainbridge and Askrigg (famous for All Creatures Great & Small) have pubs and shops with local produce etc.
Raydale Barn is perfectly located for walks and explorations in all directions - from the door, you can head off up to The Stake and get to the head of Bishopdale, it's possible to join the old Roman Rd above Wether Fell or stay low and take the scenic path around Semerwater.
